Mansfield Correctional Institution Employee Named Statewide Officer of Year

Mansfield Correctional Institution’s Correction Officer Terry Burke has been selected as the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction’s statewide Correction Officer of the Year.

 

Burke, 51, has worked at the Mansfield Correctional Institution since 2013. He was in competition for the Ronald C. Marshall Award with corrections officers from all other state institutions.

 

“Terry Burke is great employee, who represents Mansfield Correctional Institution and the department well as a top-quality corrections officer. Terry is a person who truly cares and instills hope in others daily as a professional,” states Warden Tim Mcconahay.

 

Burke has received the honor of being named officer of the Month twice at Mansfield Correctional, during the months of January and May of 2022.

He has also completed Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), an optional 40-hour training session to enhance de-escalation techniques.

 

He and his wife, Valarie, have been married for 14 years. They live in Waynesburg area.
