Madison, Mapleton School Levies Fail, Hillsdale Passes

Three area schools had levies on the ballot Tuesday, which had a low voter turnout, for the May 2nd primary election.

Madison, who was seeking their first levy for new operating expenses in 26 years, had their levy denied by close to 500 votes.

Voters in the Mapleton district turned down their income tax proposal - with 58% saying no.

Hillsdale voters approved their 10 year income tax levy, which passed by just over 30 votes. The same levy failed last November, by just 47 total votes.

Below are the unofficial results from the board of elections.
