Richland County Commissioners To Keep Sharing Same Excess Sales Tax In 2023

The Richland County Commissioners, despite record high inflation, voted this week to continue sharing the same excessive sales tax with cities, villages and townships in the county in 2023.

Commissioner Tony Vero said, this year in 2022 the combined total is between $560,000 and $580,000.

RichlandSource.com reports, Richland County is one of just a few counties in the state that shares excess revenue with other local governments. The amount of roadway mileage determines how much each city, village or township receives – with the rate being just over $1,500 per mile.
