Man Flees After Traffic Stop, Arrested By Crawford County Sheriff

A Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on SR 4 on a black 2019 Nissan Sentra near the intersection of SR 4 and Mt. Zion Road.

Thirty seven year old James P. Burgett was the driver of this vehicle and fled away North on SR 4 at a high rate of speed. This vehicle crashed near the intersection of South Sandusky Street and Marion Road and struck tree at which time Burgett fled the area on foot. The Bucyrus Police Department and Troopers from the Ohio State Patrol Post assisted and Burgett was located near Producer’s in Bucyrus, Ohio and taken to the Bucyrus Community Hospital for minor injuries that he sustained from the crash.

Burgett was arrested and taken to the Crawford County Jail and criminal charges are pending for Failure to comply with a peace officer, having weapons under disability, possession of drug paraphernalia and other traffic offences.
