COVID-19: Richland County Most Active Since Jan, 853 Cases Last Two Weeks

  • Since the first case on March 19, 2020,Richland Countyhas 9,863 confirmed positive pandemic caseswith 3,184 probable cases for a total of 13,047 cumulative cases (853 new cases in the past two weeks*). Therehave been 707 hospitalizations with44 COVID positive patients currently hospitalized(of those 13 are in the ICU and 17 are currently ventilated).There have been 223 confirmed pandemic deaths. 11,750 people on the cumulative list have recovered.
    • *Of the current cases, 142 are between the ages of 0-19; 136 between 20-29; 123 between 40-49; and 113 between 30-39. This represents a 9% increase in positive cases in this age group from July 1 to todaycompared toall cases in this age group in Richland County between March 19, 2020 and June 30, 2021. There has been a corresponding 9% drop in cases among those 60 and up over the same time period. The vaccination rate (for those eligible) younger than 50 in Richland County is 35% as opposed to 65% vaccinated for ages 50 and above.
    • NOTE: Due to a software problem, we are unable to do aZip Code mapof COVID spread in Richland County this week. Based on today’s numbers, the entire county has active spread (dark green), except for the less populated areas of 44822, 44837, 44843, and 44865. This is the most active cases since January.
