Mifflin Township – Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a Ford Mustang on State Route 603 near Mile Post 2 in Ashland County.
On Saturday, May 22, 2021 at approximately 2258 hours, a 1992 Ford Mustang 5.0 was southbound on State Route 603 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and partially overturn after striking a ditch.
The driver, Alexander Charles Switzer, 23 years old, of Lucas, Ohio, was not wearing a safety belt and was ejected from the vehicle.He was pronounced deceased at the scene.The passenger, Madison Kaitlyn Carr, 21 years old, of Mansfield, Ohio, was transported to Ohio Health Mansfield with non-life threatening injuries.
State Route 603 was closed for approximately 2 hours.
Other agencies assisting at the crash scene were: Mifflin Township Fire and EMS and the Ashland County Coroner’s Office.
Speed and alcohol are considered factors in the crash.
