Mansfield Thinking Winter Already As Road Salt Prices Go Up

It may only be the middle of May, but the city of Mansfield is already thinking about winter.

The cost of salt has gone up close to 70% from last year, where the price was just under $43 per ton. According to RichlandSource.com, Salt prices now are over $73 per ton. The city last year with price low, purchased an extra 5,000 tons, which may get them through the upcoming winter season.

Mayor Tim Theaker said they might want to play it safe and purchase another 2,000 – 3,000 tons in the event it is needed.
