Mansfield native serves in Navy hunting mines in the Pacific

Petty Officer 3rd Class Austin Buhler is a Mansfield native and Navy quartermaster serving on the USS Champion. The ship is designed to clear mines from waterways throughout the world. Mines are considered to be the biggest threat to US ships.

According to Richland Source, Buhler attributes his Mansfield roots to his success while in the Navy. Buhler said, “My dad was in the Navy and taught me the importance of hard work and integrity.”

Buhler explained that as a sailor he is trying to build a legacy and help increase the capabilities of the Navy in order to have continued success in the world’s oceans.
