Marvin Memorial Library Summer Reading 2018

Marvin Memorial Library in Shelby is ready for Summer Reading 2018. This year’s Children’s Theme is Libraries Rock!  We’ll kick off Sign-Up week with our Mascot Night Event on Tuesday, May 29 from 6:00pm -7:00pm. Summer Reading Sign-up Week will be May 29-June 2. Stop in the library any time to sign-up and receive your reading log, schedule, Libraries Rock cup, and bag. Prizes are won by reading 15 picture books or 5 chapter books and returning your reading log. Story Times, Book and Craft Times, and Tackett’s Tweens will be meeting on Tuesdays at 10:30am starting June 5. Our weekly themes include, but are not limited to, Nature’s Music, Snaring the Trumpet, and What’s the Name of that Musician? Special Programs will be held on Thursdays starting June 7. Special programs include, but are not limited to, Jeff Nicholas-the cartoonist, Dave the Magician, and Dr. Insecta. 

This year’s Teen Program is open to teens 7th-12th grade and the theme is also Libraries Rock! Sign-up Week will be May 29-June 2. Stop in the library any time to sign-up and receive your schedule, bookmarks, notebook, bag, and free book. We’ll be kicking off the Teen Summer Program on Wednesday, May 30 at 5:30pm with our Teen Kickoff Event. Prizes are won on a raffle system. Earn slips by coming to Teen Events, answering Trivia Questions, Earning a Bingo, and Reading anything with a title. Weekly activities will be held Mondays at 5:30pm starting June 4.  This year we will be joined by the Armstrong Air and Space Museum and several local musicians.
